M4 Reopens After Tree-Pylon Collision, Causing Travel Disruptions
The M4 motorway in Berkshire has reopened to traffic following a significant incident. A tree fell onto an electricity pylon, causing a temporary closure and travel disruptions for commuters. National Highways, the road management authority, confirmed that the road was closed in both directions between junction 10, near Wokingham, and junction 11, near Reading, on Wednesday morning. The road was reopened just before 06:00 GMT on Thursday, after Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks completed 'complex repairs' to address the damage.
This incident marks the second time the same section of the M4 has been closed in a week. On Tuesday, a car crash following a police chase led to a westbound closure, but these two incidents are not related. The road authority thanked drivers for their patience during the repairs, emphasizing the importance of public cooperation during such critical maintenance periods.
